A FileMaker driven TV Channel

At Belgacom TV, I head the department responsible for the production and broadcasting of trailers on a VOD channel where viewers can buy movies on demand.

The actual broadcasting is managed by a specialised system, which while meeting our requirements, did not leave us the flexibility and versatility we want (playlists for specific audiences, bilingualism…)

We have therefore opted for a custom solution in FileMaker Pro, coupled with AppleScript routines to edit the video content itself (embedding logos, jingles…)

Although this solution was much more satisfactory, ergonomics was still sorely lacking and some problems were detected. The developer was no longer available, thus we called the 1-more-thing company which had been recommended to us several times.

Within days, our application was revamped. A large part of the work is now automated, this interface is way more intuitive and efficient and we are rid of the occasional problems we used to have.

Even the treatment of videos (upconverting to HD, inlaid logos, subtitles…) is driven by FileMaker!

Since then, whenever a new idea pops up on our side, their responsiveness is impressive, and they usually develop and implement it in the following week!

We have no doubts that 1-more-thing is going to be our partner for the long term.
