Technologies

1-more-thing is organized as a skills-based network. This means that for each technology or type of project, we ensure that we can make the very best consultants available to you. In order to meet this goal, we need to make sure that we have what it takes to meet requirements across a whole range of technologies; this also means that we will tell you when we feel that we don’t have the available resources or skills to carry out your project. We pledge to only take on only those projects that can be managed, from beginning to end, by the best-in-class specialists.
That being said, we do favor some technologies more than others, because they fulfill a number of important criteria:
- flexible development. In the 21st century, IT projects can no longer be designed as if they were set in stone, based on predetermined, unchangeable, specifications. Any project must adapt to changes in your organization, in your sales policies or your management methods... It is up to us to offer you the most appropriate tools to meet this challenge.
- overall cost. Some technologies seem attractive because of their low development costs, while others offer low or nonexistent license costs. We look into what your project will really cost you (Total Cost of Ownership), not only in its initial development phase, but also on a daily basis throughout its lifecycle.
- multiplatform tools. Your data and applications need to be accessible on all the desktops across your company. You may have PCs as well as Macs, you want to be able to access your data from Web or phone-based applications (iPhone, etc): we will strive to offer you technologies that will not leave you straitjacketed, but leave you free to develop as you wish.
- technologies that give you some leeway. There is nothing more frustrating than having to call up your service provider every time you need to make a little change or tweak. Wherever feasible, our aim is for you to have control.
- tools that are used for what they were designed to do. How many IT projects have failed miserably because someone thought that modifying an existing tool would be a cheaper option? We will offer you a CMS (Content Management System) ... IF you have content to manage – and NOT with the intention of transforming it into a management program.
